£8.6m Jerwood DanceHouse opens this week on Ipswich waterfront
An £8.9m dance centre design by John Lyall Architects is opening in Ipswich this week.
The Jerwood DanceHouse provides 2,500 m2 of state-of-the-art facilities for dance, including four dance studios, a 200-seat studio theatre, dressing rooms, therapy suites and a cafe.
The centre, which will also provide the headquarters for the dance organisation DanceEast, is at the centre of a £70m redevelopment of the Ipswich waterfront.
Above the centre, which is clad in green-grey zinc panels, is a 23-storey tower and two smaller residential blocks.
The DanceHouse has been funded through private and public partnership.
