RKD will remain under existing management
John F Hunt has bought a London-based geotechnical and structural engineering design specialist for an undisclosed sum.
The demolition, concrete and plant hire specialist has taken a majority shareholding in RKD Consultant, which has worked on a range of scheme in the capital including Battersea Power Station, Chelsea Barracks and recently the basement extension of the Claridge’s hotel.
RKD, which claims an annual turnover of around £1.5m, will remain under the management of Mark Blackmore and Dr Adam Pellew.
The firm’s 10-strong engineering team will continue to operate out of their existing offices in Barking.
According to its latest, unaudited figures for the year to March 2022, Hunt said group revenue rose 35% to £140m with pre-tax profit up 43% to £10.6m.
It said that cash in the bank at the year-end stood at £23m, a figure it said had taken into account the £5.6m it has set aside for its role in a bid-rigging probe carried out by Competition and Market Authority and which is expected to publish its definitive findings shortly.
