Bury Council awards ISG contract to build special needs school on site of Radcliffe High School
Bury Council has awarded ISG the contract to build a £9.1m special needs school in Radcliffe, near Bury.
Millwood School will be built in the grounds of the recently closed Radcliffe High School.
The school aims to achieve a BREEAM excellent rating and will feature a ground source heat pump, a photo-voltaic array and natural ventilation. The single steel-frame structure will feature structurally insulated panels.
Facilities at the school for children aged between 0 and 11 will include a hydrotherapy pool.
Work is scheduled to start on site in September and completion will be late 2011.
