Construction services group set to start work on 33-storey building that will include student accommodation, offices and shops
ISG has signed a preconstruction agreement for a £100m mixed-use development in central London.
Piling and foundation works for the 33-storey building, known as Nido Spitalfields on Middlesex Street, are due to begin soon.
ISG will construct a concrete frame and part steel frame building providing accommodation for 1204 students. The scheme also includes six ground floor retail units, a gym and five stories of commercial office accommodation (84,480 ft2 of gross floor area).
The student rooms come in single or shared configurations, with pre-fabricated bathroom pods and a kitchen area, with communal facilities including common rooms and study rooms. The project is scheduled for completion by late summer 2010.
The scheme follows the first phase of the Nido Student Living development in King's Cross.
