Fifteen-year deal covers 186 properties and could 'signficantly exceed' initial contract price
Facilities management company Interserve has won a 拢500m contract with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs designed to make it a sustainable place to work.
Interserve said the 15-year contract covered 186 sites across England and that the ultimate value could 鈥渟ignificantly exceed鈥� the 拢500m initial price. Existing facilities management staff working at Defra and it鈥檚 agencies will transfer to Interserve under the deal.
The firm said the contract went beyond a traditional facilities management contract, with Interserve also providing a detailed assessment of building layouts and occupancy, and quality of accommodation.
It has also been asked to embed 鈥渟ustainable鈥� procurement in to the delivery of management services, with carbon emissions reduction a key goal. Part of this will be to expand and improve combined heat and power systems at Defra properties.
