Contractor Interserve has been awarded a 拢20m contract to build and run a recovery centre for armed forces charity Help for Heroes.
Interserve will design, project manage, build and maintain the state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility at Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth.
The 鈥淣aval Service Recovery Pathway Expansion Programme鈥 building will be constructed at the Devonport naval base, which Interserve already manages under a PFI contract.
Construction will start in July of phase one, a 60-bed accommodation facility including family rooms and recreational spaces.
Phase two will see the construction of a 25 metre, six-lane swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, gymnasium and consulting rooms.
Interserve general manager Simon Cowls, said: 鈥淭his is an immensely proud day for all of us who have been involved with the project, it is the culmination of 18 months hard work involving all sectors of the business coming together to design and build facilities that we can rightly be proud of.鈥
