Unilin System’s structural insulated roof panels have been used on three carbon-neutral homes in Somerset
The homes, which have been built by Waldegrave Estates, aim to use 7.75kWh/m2 for space heating – equivalent to a monthly heating bill of about £6 – and will achieve this through a very airtight, thermally efficient construction.
Unilin Systems’ Unipur panels were used. These take advantage of the insulating properties of PIR foam in factory-made panels and eliminate the need for trussed rafters. Unilin say this reduces wasted roof space, raw materials and construction time. The panels were used in two different depths to achieve different levels of insulation. A range of internal finishes are available for the panels to cut down on internal decoration time.
