Manchester’s construction community goes into party mode as ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV hosts drinks for the North-west.
More than 100 readers crammed into Manchester’s Reform club for ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV’s editorial reception in the city last Thursday.

The Reform, favoured watering hole of celebrities such as Manchester United and England international David Beckham and his pop star wife Victoria, aka Posh Spice. It was also the club of choice for US president Bill Clinton’s former assistant Monica Lewinsky for her night on the town earlier this year.

Among those spotted from Manchester’s construction scene were representatives from contractors Balfour Beatty, Bovis, Morrison, HBG, Carillion and M&E contractor Drake & Scull. Architects in attendance included Hodder Associates, BDG McColl, Derek Hicks & Thew, Abbey Hanson Rowe and Ian Simpson Architects. Manchester’s QSs were represented by Gleeds, Currie & Brown, Faithful & Gould and EC Harris and Partners. Developer Urban Splash and representatives from Manchester City Council also put in an appearance.

The reception was held to mark ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV’s 10-page profile of the North-west, which featured the region’s top construction projects including the £150m redevelopment of Liverpool’s Princes Dock, the new £86m Marks & Spencer superstore in Manchester city centre and Salford’s £60m Lowry Centre.

The reception was the second to be hosted by ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV in Manchester since the city was devastated by the bomb in the summer of 1997.
