Architect's mobile art centre tours world showcasing acclaimed modern artists
Zaha Hadid's design for Chanel's Mobile Art Container is currently being used to exhibit in Hong Kong.
The collapsible building will tour the world over the next two years displaying work by a range of modern artists including Yoko Ono, Sylvie Fleury and Loris Cecchini. From Hong Kong it will go to Tokyo then New York, London, Moscow and finally Paris in early 2010. The London stint of the exhibition is due to start in June 2009.
The project is sponsored by Chanel with the work displayed apparently inspired by the Parisian fashion house's "emblematic quilted bag".
Hadid said of the project: "The fascination of Mobile Art is the challenge of translating the intellectual and physical into the sensual experimenting with completely unexpected and totally immersive environments for this global celebration of the iconic work of Chanel."
