Former Keepmoat and Taylor Wimpey veteran made executive chair
The former chief executive of housing contractor Keepmoat, Ian Sutcliffe, has been appointed executive chairman of housebuilder Countryside Properties.
Sutcliffe, an experienced company director in the housing sector, was UK chief executive at Taylor Wimpey before leaving to join Segro and then Keepmoat.
Sutcliffe鈥檚 appointment follows Countryside鈥檚 acquisition by US fund manager Oaktree in February this year. Sutcliffe will formally succeed current executive chair Andrew Carr-Locke on October 1 this year.
The firm said the appointment will not affect the roles of existing directors, including Graham Cherry, who will remain as chief executive.
Sutcliffe was UK MD of George Wimpey during the merger with Taylor Woodrow in 2007, and is known as a savvy financial operator. He joined Keepmoat in January 2012 but surprised the industry by leaving the firm in October last year after just nine months in charge.
Ian Sutcliffe said: 鈥淚 am delighted to be joining Countryside Properties at such an exciting time in its history. It is a company with strong assets and great people. With the recent investment I look forward to growing the existing business and enhancing its already strong reputation further. 鈥
Andrew Carr-Locke, chairman, said: 鈥淲e are delighted to be welcoming Ian to the Company. Ian will be able to apply his substantial experience to help us grow the business as the housing market recovery continues. All existing board members and I look forward to working with Ian.鈥
