Borehole drilling at proposed Gloucestershire nuclear site will begin in August

Construction services firm Hydrock has won a deal from E.on to conduct ground investigations at the proposed nuclear site at Oldbury, Gloucestershire.

The contract, which is due to start on 3 August, will involved drilling 22 boreholes, up to 80m deep, plus geophysics and geotechnical testing.

This is a complex and critical piece of work in preparation for the construction of the new facility and we are pleased that E.on has selected Hydrock to carry out the work.鈥�

The land next to the existing nuclear power station at Oldbury, together with land at Wylfa, was bought by a partnership of utilities RWE and E.on in April.
