Staff left in the lurch as Lovell picks up less than half of social housing firm鈥檚 contracts

Hundreds of staff at collapsed social housing firm Connaught are in danger of losing their jobs, according to the Guardian.

In a report this morning, the paper said only 43 of the 89 contracts that were affected by the administration of the firm鈥檚 social housing arm have been transferred to the Lovell arm of Morgan Sindall.

The contracts employed 2,500 Connaught workers but Morgan Sindall has told the Guardian that the number was the 鈥渕aximum number鈥 of employees that it could take on.

Many of Connaught鈥檚 contracts are in legal limbo as local authorities explore the option of retendering rather than transferring them to Lovell.

One senior local authority member told the paper that councils faced 鈥渟ubstantial risk and cost鈥 if they did not have a competitive tender process.
