Contracts to run for up to eight years
HS2 has started the search for contractors for the second phase of the major infrastructure project.
According to a , HS2 is looking for ground investigation contractors to work across the northern section of the railway in deals worth up to 拢250m and lasting up to eight years.
The leadership of 拢100bn project said the roles would support the construction of lines from Crewe to Manchester, Birmingham to Crewe, Lichfield to Sheffield, Sheffield to Leeds.
It may also involve work on other routes in the Midlands and the North West.
HS2 will brief interested contractors via a video conference on 9 July ahead of the formal bidding process, which is due to open on 6 January next year.
HS2 said it plans to appoint a number of contractors and a ground investigation partner to act as principal contractor, managing and planning the work of other firms as well as providing technical assurance.
HS2 said that the work will support detailed design and construction tasks by providing 鈥渃ertainty in construction methods, costs and programme鈥.
Interested firms can at 10am on 9 July.
Earlier this week HS2 announced the shortlist of contractors for its 拢570m Birmingham Curzon Street station, with Laing O鈥橰ourke, a Bam Nuttall and Ferrovial joint venture and a Mace and Dragados partnership all competing for the deal.
