The first phase of the scheme is expected to create 20,000 jobs

The initiative has the backing of the Department for Work and Pensions and brings together local authorities, enterprise partnerships, charities and employment support services along the 140-mile route between London and Birmingham.鈥�

HS2 has already supported鈥�13,000 jobs, including over鈥�400鈥痭ew apprenticeship starts and鈥痬ore than 550鈥痠ndividuals鈥痺ho were previously unemployed.鈥��
