Initiative to be used by railway’s main civil engineering contractors
HS2’s main civils contractors have come together to streamline their supply chain management.
The firms will introduce a standardised pre-qualification system for subcontractors in order to reduce costs and boost productivity.
The new common assessment standard will ensure that bidders looking for work with HS2’s four main civils contractors will go through identical pre-qualification processes.
Align, a joint venture made up of Bouygues, VolkerFitzpatrick and Sir Robert McAlpine, BBV, made up of Balfour Beatty and Vinci, the Eiffage and Kier team, and SCS Railways, a joint venture of Skanska, Costain and Strabag, have all agreed to use the new system.
