Work on Broadway Malyan-designed building to start this summer

Work on a 拢3m scheme to build a new arts centre at a private girls school in London is due to start this summer.

The 拢19,500-a-year South Hampstead High School, whose former pupils include actress Helena Bonham Carter and author Fay Weldon, is due to turn an existing building, called Waterlow Hall that is used to hold exams and assemblies, into a theatre and concert hall that can cater for an audience of 400.

Designed by Broadway Malyan, the work will start in July and finish in November. Others working on the scheme include M&E consultant Hilson Moran, QS Calford Seaden and structural engineer Waterman Group.

A main contractor is due to be appointed at the end of this month.
