Study will look at viability of removing tidal flows from River Hull and keeping water at a constant level

consultancy Halcrow has been appointed to look into the viability, costs and benefits of keeping the River Hull at a constant water level.

The company will consider the possibility of impounding the river and will work alongside Hull Citybuild and Hull City Council.

The 拢450,000 study is set to be completed by December 2007. Also working on the project is Roger Tym & Partners, the regeneration specialist, consultant Drivers Jonas and cost consultant Turner & Townsend.

David Wood, Halcrow鈥檚 project director said: 鈥淭he River Hull impounding study will be multidisciplinary and will require expertise from Halcrow鈥檚 engineering, environmental, economics, financial, property, transport, planning, design and architectural disciplines. When the study is complete, Citybuild and its partner organisations can make a decision as to whether the project will be feasible and only then will it move onto the next stage.鈥�
