Planning approval gained for architect's redevelopment of SEEVIC College in Benfleet
Architect Nightingale Associates has won planning approval for the 拢79m redevelopment for SEEVIC College in Benfleet, Essex.
The scheme involves creating 22,00m2 of new and refurbished facilities for one of the UK's largest sixth-form colleges.
Hemendra Kothari, a director at Nightingale's Dartford studio, said: 鈥淭he scheme has been designed to meet the needs of the college's changing and diverse curriculum and to provide staff and students with up-to-date, modern facilities.
鈥淚t was also designed to provide an attractive yet environmentally sustainable structure within which to deliver a high quality learning environment for students. On top of this, the building is easy to maintain and cost-effective to run.鈥
The design also includes a glazed 鈥渟treet鈥 that will provide the college with an entrance and a prominent presence on the A13 while also linking together all the teaching blocks and the central learning resources centre.
