Architect Piercy & Co behind new block in north London borough
Work is set to begin next June on an office building which takes some of its inspiration from the Blitz after Islington council gave the green light to plans by architect Piercy & Company.
A contractor has yet to be appointed for the job at 2 Gee Street off the A1 and around the corner from AHMM鈥檚 office on Old Street.
The building will go up on a former car park and will run across 43,500 sq ft and feature ground floor retail with six floors of office space on top.
The firm said it will carry a glazed fa莽ade which had been inspired by local warehouse buildings in the north London borough and a pink brick facade on the side elevation.
Piercy & Company said it had been inspired by the texture of nearby walls 鈥渨hich carry the scars of war damage, demolition and the trace of missing buildings鈥.
Other members of the project team include project manager CBRE, structural engineer Davies Maguire, M&E engineer Elementa and QS Exigere.
