Planning permission given for buildin that will bring core council services under one roof

Planning permission has been granted for a Croydon council's public service delivery hub.

The 36,150 sq m building will combine the council鈥檚 office facilities, a register office and other public services on a 0.5 ha site.

There is also space for a police one-stop shop and Primary Care Trust facilities if required. Car and cycle parking, landscaping, a fifth floor roof area and eighth floor garden, landscaping and access works are also included in the proposals.

The scheme is the first step for Croydon council and John Laing鈥檚 拢450m Urban Regeneration Vehicle. It is the UK鈥檚 first Local Authority Asset Backed Vehicle (LABV), which is designed to offer councils a bigger share of development profits on sites they own.

Sustainable design and energy efficiency are an important part of the proposals.
