First of five major housing projects by TfL and Grainger team OK’d by planners
Developer Connected Living London has been given the green light for a 460-home scheme next to Southall station in south-west London.
The five-block development, designed by Assael Architecture, was given the all clear by planners at Ealing Council on Wednesday.
Set for a 1.16-acre railway-side site, currently being used for storage by Crossrail, it is the first green light for the developer which is a partnership between Transport for London and property firm Grainger.
Also on the project team is QS and project manager Gardiner & Theobald, planning consultant Jones Lang LaSalle, structural, civil and transport consultant WSP, environmental consultant Mott MacDonald, landscape consultant Fabrik and fire consultant Hoare Lea.
The scheme includes a 40% share of affordable housing, a residents’ gym, green energy installations such as heat pumps and solar panels and two roof terraces with views over Southall Park.
It is the first of four schemes submitted for planning by CLL to have been given the go-ahead.
The others are a 162-home scheme designed by Maccreanor Lavington for a site next to Arnos Grove tube station, a 139-home scheme in Lambeth designed by Hawkins/Brown which will also provide 2,700sq m of workspace, and a 479 home over-station development at Nine Elms tube station, also designed by Assael. Each scheme will be 40% affordable.
CLL said it has plans for a total of 3,000 homes in London, with a fifth scheme at Cockfosters in north London due to be lodged with planners shortly which the developer says will provide hundreds of new homes.
