Department of Health approves PFI credits for schemes
The Department of Health has approved PFI credits on four local authority building projects worth a combined 拢158m. The announcement means construction can begin soon on the schemes.
The projects were among 17 schemes put under review late last year by the Department of Health. While the remaining 13 projects will not gain PFI credits, local authorities are permitted to take them forward if they find alternative funds.
The successful four are:
- A 拢30m collaborative care centre at White City developed by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and its local primary care trust. Wilmott Dixon is the contractor on the project.
- An 拢83m scheme for Hull City Council at three sites to develop 200 beds for elderly people.
- The Holt Park Wellbeing centre in Leeds worth 拢30m. The project was put under review two weeks before construction was due to start.
- A 拢15m sports and leisure centre at Sandwell, where priority will be given to disabled adults receiving social care services.
Care services minister Paul Burstow said: 鈥楾hese ambitious schemes include plans to build bridges between health and social care.
鈥淭his is key to developing services that fit around people鈥檚 lives and deliver personalised care and support.鈥
