The three-year programme of improvements will be targeted at the strategic road network.
The Highways Agency has announced a new £1bn programme of improvements for the strategic road network over the next three years.
Total investment by the Highways Agency will now be £1.9bn over the next three years. The Agency said it now had 14 major improvement schemes under construction on the strategic road network and planned to start another 33 by 2008.
The strategic road network includes most of the motorways and the key non-motorway road links in England.
