Twenty schools have had their statuses changed in the latest list
Michael Gove, the Minister for Education, has once again updated the list of schools affected by his cancellation of the BSF programme.
Up to 20 schools have had their statuses changed in the new list. This comes after Gove was forced to apologise to the House of Commons on Wednesday 7 July after 25 errors were found on the initial list of schools affected by BSF cutbacks.
Major updates today include:
- Rossington All Saints School in Doncaster. Previously listed as 鈥楽topped鈥, Rossington is now listed as 鈥楢cademy 鈥 for discussion.鈥 The school is due to open this year.
- Sinfin School in Derby City. Previously listed as 鈥楽ample 鈥 for discussion鈥, the school received BSF funding for new buildings in 2008. Further BSF funding was due for ICT updates. This has since been cancelled, so Sinfin is now listed as 鈥榮topped.鈥
- Orchard School in Luton. Previously listed as 鈥榮topped鈥, Orchard has now been labelled 鈥榰naffected鈥.
- Several other schools had their categories altered slightly with no affect to the status of BSF work on their premises.
- The latest announcement came today at Education Ministers鈥 Questions as Gove defended his decision to abandon BSF. Attacking apparent waste by the previous Labour government, Gove said: 鈥淏SF spent too much money on bureaucracy and not enough on bricks and mortar.鈥
