Axiom Education appoints consultant for 拢169m Edinburgh Schools scheme

Management and construction consultant Gleeds has been appointed by Axiom Education (Edinburgh) as Employer鈥檚 Agent for the Edinburgh Schools PPP project.

Gleeds role will be to oversee Axiom鈥檚 interest in its contract with construction firm Laing O鈥橰ourke, in the biggest education PPP project currently in Scotland.

The 拢169m project will involve the new build of six secondary schools and two primary schools in Edinburgh City. Preliminary work on the PPP project began in April 2007 with mainstream construction work due to conclude at the end of 2009.

Edinburgh City Council and Axiom Education (Edinburgh) signed a public-private partnership deal to secure the building of the eight schools. The contract will also cover the maintenance of the buildings, grounds and sports facilities, cleaning, waste management and catering.
