Consultant to open two offices in Mumbai and New Delhi

Consultant Gleeds is expanding in India in a bid to get a slice of the country鈥檚 massive construction spend, including half a trillion dollars earmarked for infrastructure alone.

Gleeds is poised to open an office in Mumbai and plans a further office in New Delhi. The move follows its acquisition of Hooloomann Project Services (HPS) India in 2008 and the opening of a Gleeds office in Bangalore.

Lord Davies of Abersoch, UK trade, investment and business minister, said: "UK firms are increasingly aware of the huge opportunities in India. On infrastructure alone, this rapidly changing country is planning to spend half a trillion dollars over the next five years. India's megacities are enormously exciting places, and there are also opportunities in emerging cities like Nagpur."

Other companies operating in Mumbai include Scott Wilson, Arup and Mott McDonald.

The UK's bilateral trade with India is worth 拢12.6 billion and has seen double-digit growth in the last year, becoming the biggest European investor in India.
