Consultant will project and cost manage train depot at Old Oak Common
Gleeds has won its second contract on London鈥檚 Crossrail project, to project and cost manage construction of a train depot at Old Oak Common.
The contract will be carried out for train manufacturer Bombardier, which won the contract to supply, deliver and maintain 65 trains for Crossrail and a depot to house them by 2018.
Preparatory works will start next month, with construction commencing in August.
Gleeds has been working with Crossrail since 2010 surveying over 4,000 properties close to the tunnel lines along the route.
Peter Doolin, vice president of project management for Bombardier Transportation UK commented: 鈥淭his is an incredibly high profile scheme and we needed a high calibre consultant to match, which is why we are very pleased to be announcing Gleeds鈥 appointment.鈥
Martin Smalley, head of rail for Gleeds, said: 鈥淲e are delighted to be working with Bombardier again, having worked on the construction of their Burton depot some years ago.
鈥淲e will be drawing on our international project and cost management experience to deliver a value for money solution.鈥
