Taylor Woodrow fits nine glass canopies on top of timber structure in Hyde Park
Taylor Woodrow is nearing completion of the installation stage of the nine glass canopies on the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, Frank Gehry's first project in England.
The glass canopies, made up of about 30 panes of varying sizes of special made frosted reinforced glass, are being positioned on top of the timber structure. The glass has been shipped in from Austria.
The canopies have been fitted in place using rope winches attached to the corners of the glass and secured to a crane.
A specially trained lifting specialist was onsite who designed and oversaw a precise lifting plan.
Installation of the canopies is scheduled to be completed today when work will begin on enabling ground works for the timber Grand Stand.
