Oxford scheme to finish in August 2021
Northern Irish firm Gilbert-Ash has chalked up a £17m deal to build a new building for Oxford college Trinity.
Designed by classical architects Adam Architecture, the new building is the first carried out by Trinity, whose alumni include Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg and former prime minister William Pitt the Elder, for more than 50 years. Work is due to finish in August 2021.
An existing 1960s building will be torn down and replaced with a new scheme that will include teaching facilities and residential accommodation.
It will feature 45 new en-suite study bedrooms, five dedicated teaching rooms, three multi-purpose areas for music practice rooms along with additional teaching rooms.
Others working on the scheme, which was given planning earlier this year, include project manager Bidwells, cost manager Gleeds, M&E consultant Silcock Dawson & Partners and structural engineer Price & Myers.
Previous projects by Gilbert-Ash include the Hawkins\Brown’s new Bartlett School of Architecture and the Stirling Prize winning Everyman Theatre in Liverpool by Haworth Tompkins.
