The Housing Corporation is to team up with CABE to apply lessons learned on the design of regeneration projects in Europe to the Thames Gateway.
Steve Douglas, Housing Corporation deputy chief executive, announced the partnership at the Thames Gateway Forum Conference this week.
鈥淥ne of the biggest lessons we can learn from successful affordable housing developments in Sweden is the need to have an early dialogue with the principal funders, the planning authority and the developers,鈥 said Douglas.
The partnership aims to set sustainability and design parameters for projects funded by the Corporation in the Thames Gateway, including the design of affordable housing and other masterplanning work.
The Housing Corporation and CABE said they would work with councils to set up talks on these issues with prospective developers and RSLs early in the development process.
