Galliford Try subsidiary, Morrison Construction, has won a 拢48.5m flood defence contract in Elgin, Northern Scotland
Morrison Construction has been awarded the 拢48.5m contract, which is part of the 拢86m Moray Council project to upgrade flood defences at Elgin in Northern Scotland.
This work is part of the wider 拢160m Moray Flood Alleviation scheme comprising of The Moray Council, Royal Haskoning, Morrison Construction and EC Harris.
The work will alleviate flooding in Elgin by recreating the flood plain and constructing flood defences. The project involves creating a sustainable flood corridor along the River Lossie and relieving constrictions to water flow enabling high flows of water to be conveyed safely through the town through the use of a combination of embankments, walls and lowered floodplains.
The contract is due to start on 4 April 2011, with completion in 2015.
Commenting on the deal, Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said: 鈥淲e are delighted to strengthen our relationship with The Moray Council by securing this important contract to deliver a fourth scheme through our existing construction partnering arrangement.鈥
