International consortiums include CH2M Hill, Bechtel, Atkins and Amec
Four teams have been invited to submit final tenders for the 拢7bn job to run the Magnox and Research Sites Restoration Ltd nuclear decommissioning sites for the next 14 years.
The job is one of the biggest construction contracts on the market.
The consortia entering the final stage of the race are:
- Reactor Site Solutions, comprising engineer Bechtel and current Magnox and RSRL manager EnergySolutions;
- The Babcock Fluor Partnership; a consortium of CH2M Hill, Areva and Serco;

The winning bidder will be contracted by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to oversee the decommissioning programme across the Magnox and RSRL nuclear sites as the Parent Body Organisation.
Andrea Livesey, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority鈥檚 competition programme manager, said: 鈥淭he formal dialogue period has concluded successfully, after a huge amount of time and effort by all parties.
鈥淭his really formed the crux of the competition process, enabling the participants to understand our requirements and secure the information needed to put their proposals together.鈥
The two year competition process was started in July 2012.
Tenders must be submitted by early November and a preferred bidder will be announced in March 2014.
