Four finalists competing to design the other Thames crossing

Hopkins, Marks Barfield and Amanda Levete are among the firms shortlisted for the design of a new 拢40m footbridge across the Thames in west London.

The jury, which includes Graham Stirk of RSHP and Pam Alexander of Cabe, has announced the four finalists for a Nine Elms-to-Pimlico river crossing for pedestrians and bikes.

The contest attracted 74 entries. The next stage of the competition will see the shortlisted teams develop their initial ideas into detailed designs, with a winner due to be announced in late autumn this year.

The first shortlisted team is Buro Happold with Marks Barfield Architects, J&L Gibbons Landscape Architects and Gardiner & Theobald; the second is Bystrup Architecture Design and Engineering with Robin Snell & Partners, Sven Ole Hansen ApS, Aarsleff and 脜F Lighting; the third is Ove Arup & Partners with Amanda Levete Architects, Gross Max, Equals Consulting and Movement Strategies; and the final team is Ove Arup & Partners with Hopkins Architects and Grant Associates.
