London practice to design 拢17m contemporary art museum in United States
Foreign Office Architects is to design its first museum and first major commission in the USA with the $26.3m (拢17m) Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (MOCA).
Co-founder Farshid Moussavi designed the four-storey 3,200 sq m building in partnership with local practice Westlake Reed Lekosky.
The building, clad primarily in mirror-finish black Rimex stainless steel, will mean the museum will have 40% more space than in its current leased facilities.
Moussavi said: 鈥淢useums today are not just homes for art, but also serve multiple functions and host a variety of activities. Our design for MOCA Cleveland aims to provide visitors with a museum which is a dynamic public space in which to experience contemporary art in its infinite manifestations.鈥
