Highlights of the school building conference opening next week in Liverpool

BSEC North opens on Monday, so there's just time to book your ticket if you don't want to miss out on the range of informative and lively speakers and great networking opportunities to be found at the two-day building schools conference.

Here's five things in particular that you won't want to miss:

Professor Phil Redmond, chair of National Museums Liverpool and creative director of Liverpool Culture Company 2008, will share his thoughts on the potential of new schools capital programmes to engage young people in the sort of future they want their city to represent.

2. The low-down on academies

The programme includes afternoon sessions with a special focus on the academies programme, and you can hear from Partnerships for School's academies director Colin Howell, and co-location fund manager Paul Adam.

3. An insight into Liverpool BSF

Liverpool City Council chief executive Colin Hilton and children's services strategy director Tim Warren will talk about the city's imminent entry into BSF wave six and important lessons from wave two.

4. A free breakfast with the Bank of England's North-west agent

Join the Forum for the Built Environment and BSEC for a free networking breakfast, with guest speakers including John Young, the Bank of England's agent for the North-west, and Ron Rampling, BSF project director for wave six.

5. The innovation zone

Another highlight of the show will be the Lend Lease Learning Innovation Zone - a visual display of learning innovation.

In addition, the conference's networking zone provides the chance to meet up with representatives from over 22 companies that are leading players in the school building market.
