Balfour Beatty, Miller, and Bam Nuttall among firms appointed to 拢600m electricity substation programme in north of Scotland
Balfour Beatty, Miller, and Bam Nuttall are among a handful of firms to have been appointed to a 拢600m framework to build new electricity substations in the north of Scotland.
Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission has awarded four contracts with a cumulative value of approximately 拢600m to four consortiums to develop the electricity substations.
The four awards are:
- Caithness and Sutherland has been awarded to a consortium of ABB UK Ltd and Balfour Beatty Engineering Services Ltd;
- East Coast including Aberdeenshire has been awarded to a consortium of Alstom Grid UK Limited and Enterprise Utility Services Limited;
- Moray and West has been awarded to a consortium of Bam Nuttall Limited and Siemens Transmission and Development Limited; and
- A fourth award has been made to a consortium known as Miller Quatro, a joint venture between contractor Miller and three Spanish firms -Sacyr Industrial, Isastur and Aditel known collectively as Quatro T & D. Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission said the purpose of the fourth award is to increase future competition.
David Gardner, SSE鈥檚 Director of Transmission, said: 鈥淭he award of these contracts, with some of the industry鈥檚 global experts will help deliver the infrastructure that is needed to support the connection of renewables, as well as providing a boost to the local communities where we are operating.
鈥淲e are also working on similar awards for all of the proposed overhead line and underground cable works.鈥
