WRAP commissions consultant to look at material efficiency on 15 new build projects in the BSF programme
Consultant Faithful+Gould has been commissioned to study how to minimise waste and use more recycled materials when building new local authority schools.
Working for the Waste & Resources Action Programme, the firm will look at material resource efficiency on 15 new builds in the 好色先生TV Schools for the Future programme.
Dr David Moon, who heads the programme on construction procurement, said: 鈥淭he purpose of this project is to persuade a number of exemplar authorities to set requirements in their tender specifications and contract agreements."
Moon said that the first BSF programme for Bristol City Council had agreed KPIs for waste reduction, recycling and recycled content in its partnering agreement. He said that WRAP demonstrated that good practice would be cost neutral.
F+G has already developed a tool kit for assessing recycled content opportunities on new build projects for WRAP.
Sean Lockie of Faithful+Gould said: 鈥淲e are looking at the contract documentation currently in place on projects and will provide a recommendation as to what forms of procurement are working in the school sector and ways in which that can be improved.鈥�
