Modules cut CO2 emissions and electricity costs by 90%, firm claims
Ferrovial has launched a green site hut developed by company employees.
The Spanish contracting giant, which is working on the HS2 scheme in the Chiltern hills, claims the new Ikongreen modules reduce CO2 emissions and electricity costs by up to 90% and will be operational before the end of the year.
The service modules, which are assembled in recycled containers, are equipped with inverters, storage batteries, energy management and control systems, telecommunications network services and the necessary connections to provide service to office sheds and site equipment.
There is also space for presentations, virtual classroom and health and safety equipment.
Based on a pilot test, Ferrovial estimates that the annual savings from the module will be worth around 鈧14,000 (拢12,000) each year.
Meanwhile, Ferrovial Construction UK said income last year was up 19% 拢456m. Pre-tax profit jumped from 拢1.4m to 拢5.3m.
