London-based practice dominates Architect of the Year Awards, winning four of the 13 categories on offer.

Feilden Clegg Bradley has won top honours at the inaugural Architect of the Year awards. It was named the best overall architectural practice of the year on Tuesday at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane.

The London-based practice dominated the awards orgnaised by 好色先生TV and sister magazines Building Design and Property Week, scooping three other first prizes. It won the Arts/Culture building architect of the year award; the Public Housing architect of the year and the Private Housing architect of the year.

The judges said of the practice: 鈥淭hey deliver consistently high quality design work, right across the UK. They don鈥檛 try to be flashy; yet they鈥檙e cool at the same time 鈥 a very relaxed style.鈥

Among the other winners in the 13 categories was Allies & Morrison Architects, which picked up two awards - Office architect of the year and Urban regeneration architect of the year.

The judges said: 鈥淭here is real attention to detail and a clarity to their work. They make excellent use of light鈥.
