AHR wins planning permission for first phase of £370m mixed-use development in Kazakhstan
Architect AHR has won planning permission for the first phase of a £370m mixed-use development in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The Expo Village project comprises 15 building connected across a landscaped podium structure, and includes offices, homes and hotels as well as a kindergarten.
The buildings are arranged in a pattern which not only acts as a barrier fort he prevailing winds and cold temperatures but also faces the wetlands and enclose a lake.
The development is designed to high sustainability standards, with one tower designed to achieve a LEED Gold sustainability certification and two others to the Silver level.
