Have your say on policies for greening existing houses via the two-week UK Green ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV Council consultation
The UK Green ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV Council (UK-GBC) is working with the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes, the Sustainable Development Commission and the Technology Strategy Board to carry out a wide-reaching industry and stakeholder consultation on reducing carbon emissions in the existing housing stock.
Over the next two weeks, the UK-GBC is asking for feedback from the building community on a series of 4 key issues papers exploring:
- technology and innovation
- markets and service offerings
- behaviour change and awareness
- policy
To access the papers and provide feedback please click on the link below. All the feedback will be collated ahead of a workshop on the 12th September. The output from the online consultation and the workshop will be compiled into a report to be completed at the end of September.
The report will be sent to government to be taken forward to their consultation in the autumn leading to a ‘Low Carbon Homes Strategy’ in Spring 2009, which government committed to in the recent draft Renewable Energy Strategy.
Through the consultation UK-GBC will seek to find consensus on questions such as:
- How do we ensure the supply chain has the capacity and the skills to be able to deliver on a much greater scale?
- Does the householder, the tenant, or the landlord have all the information and advice to hand to make their decisions and choices easy?
- Do we have the right long-term regulatory and policy framework in place to provide the industry with the certainty it needs in order to plan ahead?
- Are the financial incentives and mechanisms in place for people to make cost-effective decisions?
If you would like to express an interest in attending the workshop please email events@ukgbc.org with ‘existing homes workshop’ in the subject line.
UK-GBC is looking for a representative cross-section of stakeholders to attend the event so they cannot guarantee a place, but it is hoped that a web seminar with key speakers from the workshop will be hosted ahead of the 12th September. By emailing your interest in the workshop to UK-GBC they will keep you up-to-date with developments on the web seminar.
The output from the workshop and the final report will be available on the UK-GBC website.
