Joint venture plans to deliver 22-storey 鈥渃ampus under one roof鈥 in 2026
The largest commercial laboratory building in Europe is to be developed by a joint venture at Canary Wharf.
Canary Wharf Group (CWG) and Kadans Science Partner have joined forces to create a 22-storey life science-focused, wet lab enabled building at Canary Wharf鈥檚 North Quay. It will be the first phase of a health and life sciences centre on the 3.3ha site next to the new Elizabeth Line station.
With a gross internal area of 750,000ft2, the KPF-designed building will be engineered to allow laboratory space on all floors.
The intention is to deliver the building in 2026 and the JV hopes it will create a 鈥渃ampus under one roof鈥, housing SMEs and academics as well as global healthcare and pharmaceutical companies.
CWG chief executive Shobi Khan said the 2,300 apartments also developed by the firm in Canary Wharf would enable researchers and their colleagues to live nearby.
Michel Leemhuis, chief executive of Kadans, added that the development would be 鈥渢he catalyst for a new world-leading life sciences cluster and ecosystem in the UK capital鈥.
