Crest Nicholson has been appointed to develop former St Francis hospital site
English Partnerships has appointed Crest Nicholson to develop the former St Francis Hospital site in Haywards Heath.
The scheme will see 222 homes built, 40% of which will be one or two-bedroom to help local residents get on the housing ladder. The project also includes the extension of the Haywards Heath Relief Road.
It is being billed as a sustainable neighbourhood, with all of the homes set to meet the government鈥檚 EcoHomes Very Good standard or level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
English Partnerships director David Ashworth said: 鈥淲e were very impressed with Crest Nicholson鈥檚 submission. We know they are committed to building to the highest environmental standards and to embracing the local community when devising their final plans for the site and as such make ideal partners for us in this development.鈥
David Huggett, Crest Nicholson (South) managing director, added: 鈥淭he St Francis Hospital site sits very well with our current portfolio of regeneration projects which continue to champion high quality design and sustainable development.鈥
English Partnerships bought the land two years ago as part of a programme aiming to bring 96 redundant hospital sites back into use.
