Revenue also jumps 43% for aggregates firm as profit is boosted by integration of Johnston.
Aggregates group Ennstone has doubled its profits to £13m during the past year after integrating rival Johnston into the firm.
Ennstone, which acquired Johnston in November 2004, has also seen its revenue leap by 43%. Revenue for the year ended 31 December 2005 was £159.8m, compared with £111.5m the previous year.
Chairman Vaughan McLeod said: "The business is in very good shape and we are confident of achieving strong progress over the next two years."
Ennstone's results were boosted by the successful integration of Johnston, and a number of key disposals including the sale of Johnston's engineering business. The disposals generated gross profits in excess of £30m.
