Trade body the Environmental Industries Commission is to call for changes to government incentives for greening buildings.
Under the current set-up, introduced in this year鈥檚 budget, businesses can write off the cost of equipment such as energy-efficient boilers against tax.
But the council is expected to call for financial rewards to be linked to the overall energy performance of a building, rather than individual components.
Sean Lockie, chair of the commission鈥檚 sustainable buildings group and head of sustainability at QS Faithful + Gould, said: 鈥淵ou could link it to the EU鈥檚 Energy Performance of 好色先生TVs Directive. So if you improve a building from D to B or from B to A, then you get a tax break linked to that.鈥
