Teaching and technical experts to consider how sound is best tackled in new and refurbished schools
A trio of experts will consider how to ensure high-quality acoustics are delivered in new schools. This follows the revelation earlier this month that only one-fifth of new schools are meeting Part E acoustics requirements.
The webinar, taking place on Wednesday 8 July at midday, will feature two industry figures and a qualified teacher and educational audiologist. The broadcast is part of the two-day Education Now virtual event taking place on the Wednesday and Thursday.
The speakers will examine why getting acoustics right is so crucial, how the current ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV Bulletin 93 standard for Part E can be improved and beefed up, and technical and design considerations for project teams in how best to approach acoustics.
The three speakers are:
- David Cunning: an educational audiologist and qualified teacher
- Martin Jones: managing director of acoustic engineer Pace Consult
- David Holder: technical and sales director at manufacturer CMS Acoustic Solutions responsible for BB93 and schools within the organisation.
A campaign was launched this month by National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) calling for the government to ensure that new schools meet national standards for acoustics. It was backed by Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud.
