Green tiles, and laminate floors made of wood from sustainable forests
Kyoto tiles
Stone & Ceramic Warehouse has launched the Kyoto wall and floor tile collection. The tiles are produced entirely from recycled materials including glass bottles, tea cups, sanitary ware and CDs. The product is suitable for both commercial and residential settings and indoor and outdoor use. Kyoto is manufactured using processes that don鈥檛 involve firing or smoking chimneys, therefore making the collection virtually carbon neutral.Laminate floors
Quick Step鈥檚 laminate floors claim to be eco-friendly thanks to high-density fibreboard (HDF). The wood fibre, which makes up the core of the laminate floors, carries a PEFC label which certifies that the wood comes from sustainable forests which are managed in an environmentally-friendly manner.Pre-finished steel
Steel maker Corus has launched Colorcoat HPS200, the next generation of products to be used as part of roof and walling cladding systems. The product is available with Confidex Sustain to provide the world鈥檚 first carbon neutral building envelope.
All traces of heavy metals and unnecessary fire retardants have been removed from the topcoat and undesirable organotin stabilisers and phthalate plasticisers relaced with high performing alternatives.
The steel used in Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra is made using a mix of 25% recycled steel scrap and iron ore. And, the firm used the latest technology to minimise environmental impact in its operations.
Corus worked with a group of architects and colour specialists to come up with the best colour palette from the designer鈥檚 perspective.
The group asked for more colours that connect with the natural environment and can work in various contexts. The collection, therefore, is made of 40 colours, 17 of which are new to the Corus range, and they all reflect nature.
