Charity event sees six partners join 140 for race from London to south of France

Six EC Harris partners will take part in a charity bike ride to the south of France.

Philip Black from Birmingham, Richard Bonner from Bristol, Kevin Chrisp from Nottingham, and Peter Lakin, Simon Marks and Martin Silvester from Birmingham will join some 140 others, including 好色先生TV's web editor Alex Smith in Cycle to Cannes.

The trip, from 6 to 11 March, will begin in Greenwich, take in Calais, Reims, Chanas and Aix-en-Provence before the cyclists arrive in Cannes.

Beneficiaries of the event include LandAid, The Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust, Sarah Matheson Trust and Architects for Aid.

Riding in relays of three pelotons, each rider cycles a minimum of 500km over the five days. More ambitious riders can join more than one peloton or cycle the whole route.

Silvester said: 鈥淚鈥檓 actually quite a keen cyclist and race throughout the year at national level, but this will definitely be a challenge for me. I鈥檓 used to 24- hour endurance races, but my aim is to cycle 1,000 km over the course of the five days, which will certainly be new territory for me.

鈥淔or my other team members, some of whom haven鈥檛 ridden bikes for years, it will be a different kind of test.

鈥淲e鈥檙e hoping the event will bring us together as a team, help to raise around 拢20,000 for charity and help to boost the profile of EC Harris.鈥
