Bucharest office to provide project and cost management services on four shopping centres
EC Harris has secured a contract to work on four shopping centres in Romania.
The company will provide project and cost management services from its Bucharest office to build the developments in Arad, Baia Mare, Cluj, and Satu Mare, which together are worth 鈧300m (拢223.4m).
The shopping centres will also include leisure facilities, office spaces and hotel accommodation. The projects are due for completion in 2009.
EC Harris was awarded the contract by Atrium Centres, the new retail and entertainment arm of property developers Dawney, Day Group.
Matthew Cutts, a partner of EC Harris, commented: 鈥淓astern Europe, and Romania in particular, is a key target for retailers and highly attractive for investors at present. The success for retailers, such as Tesco and Carrefour, in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary, suggests that there is real potential in the new territories of Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.鈥
