Developers will create 1,500 construction jobs and 7,500 homes as part of the Earl鈥檚 Court regeneration
Up to 1,500 construction jobs will be created with the regeneration of Earl鈥檚 Court, according to developers Capital and Counties. According to the firm, the plans will create 7,500 homes and 12,000 permanent jobs as well as 1,500 construction jobs.
The masterplan for the 77-acre Earl鈥檚 Court site, designed by Terry Farrell & Partners, has been published for consultation, setting out a vision to create 鈥渇our villages and a high street鈥 on the Earl鈥檚 Court site.
The site is jointly owned by EC&O, Transport for London and Hammersmith and Fulham council.
Commenting on the project, Sir Terry Farrell, founder of Terry Farrell & Partners, said: 鈥淚n developing the masterplan for Earl鈥檚 Court, our inspiration is London.
鈥淲e have looked at the best of London and the architectural fabric of nearby Kensington and Fulham in particular, and used that to guide our designs.
鈥淭he Four Villages and a 21st-century high street create a wholly new and remarkable place for London, but one which knits seamlessly into the existing urban grain.鈥
The site development also has the backing of Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh, leader of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, who said: 鈥淭his proposal is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us to build new homes for estate residents and offer affordable properties to the thousands of people struggling to buy a home without leaving the borough.
鈥淲e want to give more people the same opportunities West Kensington and Gibbs Green residents had when they moved in and create a thriving new place to live and work that will create thousands of new jobs so families can stay here for generations to come.
鈥淒ozens of residents have come forward to tell us they are excited by the proposal and we want as many people to come and see the exhibition to make their own minds up, safe in the knowledge that if their estates are included they will have a home in this landmark development.鈥
An exhibition of the plans is being held in the Museum Hall of the Earl鈥檚 Court Exhibition Centre until Tuesday.
